European Cancer Conference, Berlin 2009

Board member from Scotland, Lynn Adams, presented at the recent European Cancer Conference in Berlin on work that she has been involved with to develop nurse led cancer clinics in community hospitals in the North East of Scotland. This development supports both national and local policy – strengthening health care in remote and rural areas; developing practitioners with extended roles; educating health care professionals for practice in local hospitals and supporting self management in people surviving cancer. Patients are benefiting from a service delivered close to their homes, which avoids travelling to the cancer centre in Aberdeen. This service continues to evolve.
