Kidney Cancer UK ‘Melinda Whale Memorial Award’ for outstanding care in nursing

Nominations open from 3rd June – 29th July 2019.

Kidney Cancer UK are pleased to announce the creation of an annual award in memory of our founder’s (James Whale) late wife Melinda Whale. The ‘Melinda Whale Memorial Award’ will recognise the contributions of an outstanding nurse, who by performing above and beyond their role, has improved the care of kidney cancer patients in the UK. Nominations will come from patients, carers and families of those treated for kidney cancer, as well as the opportunity for nurses to self-nominate and for the nominations of colleagues. Nominations will open on 3rd June 2019.

The winner will be selected by a panel of expert judges and announced on the 9th September and receive a bursary of £1,500, which can be used to either further their education or improve the service offered at their unit. The award and bursary will be presented at the charity’s annual Patron’s Dinner at The House of Lords, where the winner and their partner will be guests of honour.
