Talking about sex and Cancer

30 July 2021

The impact on sexual wellbeing for patients and their partners who have been treated for cancer has been widely recognised as a significant challenge.  Yet, it is widely reported that health care professionals working across cancer care often do not feel well-equipped to assess sexual care needs and to provide sexual support to patients and their partners.

Therefore UKONS are delighted to share with you an excellent free e-learning package that has been developed by the team at Ulster University to enhance the provision of sexual support for those affected by cancer.

It can be used as a one-off training intervention (taking approximately one hour) or can be used on an ongoing basis as reference material.  It includes links to supporting resources, a downloadable communication framework prompt sheet and signposting sheets to support HP discussions on referral pathways with patients.

This learning pack is suitable for any health care professional wishing to develop their knowledge further within this area of practice so please share widely.
