UKONS telephone triage training modules: now live!

19 February 2024

The UKONS telephone triage training modules are now live and are accessible for free on the NHS Learning Hub https://learninghub.nhs.uk

You don’t need a healthcare email address to register, which means colleagues from third sector and voluntary organisations can access the training for free. Simply visit the UKONS Telephone Triage training programme page on the NHS Learning Hub to register.

The modules have been developed to support staff that undertake telephone triage of oncology and haematology patients using the UKONS 24hr triage tool. The online training consists of four modules that will discuss, the principles of telephone assessment; the UKONS 24hr triage tool explored; governance and the final module which includes several real-life scenarios for the learner to explore.

UKONS held our launch event for the training on the 9th February in London, the day was a great success with excellent feedback from the day. All attendees confirmed that they were likely to implement this resource within their organisations. A big thank you to our core project management group, Lisa McCauley, Rosie Roberts, Emma Earnshaw, Ann Maloney and the amazing Philippa Jones. This group have worked extremely hard to develop the content for the design team, producing this valuable training for staff.

We are confident that this free and accessible training will be well utilised across the UK in many organisations. We would like to ensure that staff feel confident, comfortable and safe when undertaking triage and that patients are safe at all times. Please do share this training within your organisation.

Best Wishes,
