The UKONS Board were delighted to once again partner with the British Journal of Nursing to support the Oncology Nurse of the Year Award. Well done to all the nominees who entered submissions for this very competitive award.
We are delighted to share news of the winners, who were announced at the awards ceremony at Banking Hall, London, on Friday 24th March.
In Gold place and winner of the Oncology Nurse of the Year Award 2023, very many congratulations go to:
Samantha Westbrook, Peritoneal Mesothelioma Clinical Nurse Specialist, Peritoneal Malignancy Institute, Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital. Samantha is a worthy winner. She led the development of novel and much-needed services for people with the rare cancer peritoneal mesothelioma. Her role is funded by Mesothelioma UK, so many congratulations to @Mesouk too!
Many congratulations also to Caroline Tweedie, Specialist Breast Care Nurse, Gateshead Health Foundation Trust for winning Silver place for Oncology Nurse of the Year and the Head & Neck Clinical Nurse Specialist Team, Southern Health and Social Care, for winning Bronze! Very well deserved.
