15 March 2024
Friday 15th March marks the third National Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist day. The day was borne out of a need to raise the profile of cancer nursing, celebrate the significant contribution of this skilled workforce to cancer care and attract future workforce to this specialism. Claire Taylor, Chief Nursing Officer at Macmillan Cancer Support says: "It is important that we recognise the complexity and skilled nature of the Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist role – and also the difference they make to the lives of people affected by cancer."
This a social media awareness campaign, allowing everyone to have the opportunity to engage with the event from wherever they are located. This allows individuals and teams to share stories, pictures, and videos to raise awareness of this vital role but to also showcase the great work of the cancer CNS workforce. Some organisations, alliances and teams have organised local events in previous years, such as away days, well-being events, celebratory stalls and breakfasts to show appreciation to the cancer CNS workforce.
Whatevery you do, please remember to share with the hashtag, #NationalCancerCNSDay so that the efforts of local teams can be shared. You may wish to use the QR code to download resources, provided by Macmillan, that may be useful to promote the day.
